The Presidents and Committees of the Oxford & Cambridge Societies of Belgium invite you to a Discussion Lunch to be held at and in association with the Fondation Universitaire Stichting, at which Rhodri Morgan, former First Minister of Wales will address us on the topic “The evolution of devolution in the UK - useful insights for regionalisation elsewhere in Europe”. After his speech there will be the opportunity for debate.
Hywel Rhodri Morgan read PPE at St John’s College Oxford. From 1980 to 1987 he headed the European Commission's office in Cardiff. He was elected to the House of Commons from 1987 to 2001, covering such diverse issues such as Energy and Welsh Affairs and chairing the House of Commons Select Committee on Public Administration. Throughout this time he was a committed supporter of Welsh devolution; he was elected to the Welsh Assembly upon its formation in 1999. He was leader of the Welsh Assembly Government from 2000 to 2009, first as First Secretary for Wales, and subsequently First Minister before retiring.
This lunch will be held on Tuesday October 11th from 12.15 in the premises of the Fondation Universitaire Stichting, rue d'Egmont 11, 1000 Bruxelles and will cost €30 per head. A two-course menu is proposed; Magret de Canard sauvage aux légumes de saison followed by Misérable de la maison, with wine, water, coffee or tea and mignandises.

The Hungarian Ball - 28th January 2012
Dear Oxford and Cambridge Society Members,
Having two Oxonians on the Committee, we have decided it would be fun to get together an Oxbridge table at the Hungarian ball in January. Would you like to come?
The Ball will be on 28 January, in the Concert Noble. Dinner tickets can be booked until 10 January 2011 at www.arcfam.be. A detailed invitation is attached.
In addition to great music (jazz-trio, violin orchestra, party band), excellent food and drinks (lovely wines from the guest of honour, the city of Balatonfüred), there will be a spectacular fashion show, traditional costumes and the opening waltz choreographed by me.
Do not forget to indicate "Oxbridge table" when booking your tickets.

Film Club - 26th January 2012 - “Tapas”
Happy New Year! CamSoc Film Society in the person of Frances Robinson springs into action:
Tapas (2005, Jose Corbacho and Juan Cruz)
January 26 - 19.00 - Cinematek (Bozar)
2012 sees Brussels Capital Region hosting a year long food festival, 'Brusselicious' and the Cinematek have decided to celebrate the marriage of food and cinema with a cycle of combined screenings and tastings, 'Chez Cinematek'.
'Tapas' takes place in a suburb of Barcelona, a collage of stories, hidden secrets and intrigue spanning neighbours generations, told in the city's cafes and tapas bars. It should provide some much-needed sunlight in the middle of the Belgian winter!
The ticket price of EUR 12 includes the film, drinks and a related tasting after movie (around 21.00) -- however, tickets must be bought in advance (so they can inform the caterers). Reply to me (frances.m.robinson@gmail.com) by Jan 11 and I will purchase them and you can refund the society on the night.
Hasta luego -- the film is in Spanish (according to the website, could be Catlan tho) with French subtitles -- hope to see you there!
